Community + Furry Friends = Magic
Yesterday was a very special day for All Stars for Autism. Our autistic children got to practice yoga with a bunch of baby chickens, bunnies, goats, guinea pigs and a pony called Cracker Jack!
This was all made possible by Ann-Marie and Georgia, who run the Alignment Collective, a heart-driven business that helps people find what lights them up. They’re all about meditation, getting fit, and creating more zen in the world. They’ve even initiated a community outreach program, that enables members to donate a small portion of their membership fee to help other communities reach the same goal.
And boy, did they succeed with yesterday’s Barnyard Yoga!
I’ve never seen so much happiness in the one space. Happy children, happy mums and dads, happy babies and animals. What can be more heart-centred, community-driven and magical than that?
As the yoga teacher (who also volunteered her time, thank you so much, Audrey) asked the children to raise their hands up to the stars and bring them back into prayer pose, it seemed the kids’ prayers had been answered. There, at the end of their yoga mat, was a guinea pig, or a bunny rabbit, or a chicken. There were goats roaming around, getting into mischief and a beautiful white pony (who may or may not have been a unicorn in another life).
Connecting with community and providing magical opportunities like this, is what All Stars is all about. And we’re so excited that there are other change-makers in the community who share our dreams of making the world a better place.
Yesterday was the best therapy for everyone, kids and adults alike.
Please watch this space for more collaborations in the future.
